Natalie Khelif is a French American designer, born in the San Francisco Bay Area. Natalie’s background comes primarily from traditional processes of woodworking passed down to her by her French father, an architectural woodworker.
In addition to her experience with woodworking, she has expanded her processes and material repertoires to other mediums like metal, ceramics, and mold making throughout her four years at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She feels it is important to be involved in every step of the design process: from ideation and rendering to the hand making process, finalization, and marketing of the object.
Natalie’s design focuses on creating an atmosphere for her users. She wants to renovate a space that mimics looking through a kaleidoscope. Having the users gaze through a new lens to bring them back to a happy and content emotional space. Natalie focuses a lot on household objects in order to prioritize the relaxing home space but does not object to other spaces for she thinks any location’s mood should be lifted.
